Drawing progression
I usually start by doing a very light quick sketch to get the proportions and placement where I want and then proceed building the values using everything from 2F to 8B pencils. The drawing of this little cowgirl is done on 140lb D'Arches 100% cotton rag, hot press watercolor paper. This was done on a quarter sheet, approx. 11x15"

An older Drawing
11"x 15" Graphite on D'Arches hot press w/c paper.
Since I showed a couple of my paintings in my last post I thought I'd post one of my drawings. I just started a new one which probably will not be finished until after the holidays but I will post it when It's finished. This one is depicting a bulldogger at a rodeo in Drummond Montana. Drawing the action and all the dust was the challenge that attracted me to this scene.

"Beach Dancer II"
"Beach Dancer II"
9"x 12" Oil
This is the second of the series of three paintings of this little girl. I tried to express the energy and joy that she seems to be showing in her dancing.
Merry Christmas!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas!
Until a short time ago I didn't even know what a blog was and now I have one. This is all new to me so I'll probably goof it up somehow while I learn how to do it.
The purpose for this blog is to provide a space to publish some of my art work, especially my latest pieces, and possibly get some comments from viewers. I would look forward to some discussion about my work, or others, as well. Any suggestions on how to improve this blog would also be appreciated as it is going to be an on going learning process.
